The Pride

Two booming roars echoed across the lands. Two lionesses looked to each other with weary smiles.

"We did good today, Lyzz." The large black lioness licked her maw as she looked to her paws before returning her bright green gaze to meet the bright blue of her even larger golden companion.
"Yes we have, Nephthys." Shaking her pelt from the dust of the hunt, Lyzz looked down to the deceased oryx. It had taken them nearly half the afternoon to track the herd and to take down a full grown buck.
"This will be plenty enough for our family." Thys said to Lyzz as she stretched out her body, ear perking as answering roars sounded rather close. "Speaking of which, here they come."

Leading the small group was a young male, Jota. The eldest of Lyzz's children. The lion had been long thought deceased, but here he stood this day. At his side was an elegant, pale ligress.
Bright blue eyes looked to the kill and she purred hungrily. While Kiri was not of Lyzz's blood, Kiri thought Lyzz as much as her mother as she was to her small son, Finn.
The tawny li-liger cub trotted along, trying to keep up with the adults longer strides, a happy smile upon his maw. Born tiny and weak, he nearly had died countless times. But Jota's healers knowledge had kept the young lad as strong as possible.
Trailing the adult, a teenaged lioness appeared next. While she was of relation to no one, Thys and Lyzz took the lonely female under their protection and into their pride. Autumn had a firey personality but preferred to keep to herself.
Two cubs then followed suit. One a rich sienna brown and the other a soft coal black. Lyzzy and Naiilah were inseparable, the best of friends. The daughters of the matriarchs of the pride, they proved to be a handful. Unknowing to their mothers, the two secretly met with Lionel and his albino female, Amara. Enemies of the small family, Thys and Lyzz despised the rougeish male.
Bringing up the rear, two new faces appeared. Horus, the brownish grey male pounced along, trying to annoy Naii and Lyzzy. His mother, Isis followed along, a smile upon her maw. The creamy lioness and her son were also of egyptian decent, like Nephthys and Naiilah.
Isis's light green eyes met those bright green of Thys and the female purred with delight. While the rest moved to start in on the meal, the young mother moved to join Thys at the side of the kill. Motherly smiles adorned their faces as they looked to their cubs. Naiilah and Horus fought over a rib and they chuckled softly. Thys purred and nuzzled the cream female and stepped forth to join in the fray.

Later that evening, as the sun began to set, and their bellies full to the brim with food, the family turned in for the night. Isis curled up next to Thys while the cubs suckled from the black lioness. Lyzz tiredly flopped onto her side and Lyzzy cuddled against her mother. Kiri, Finn and Jota curled up in a small group and young Autumn moved to lay by herself. Life was good for the pride, they just hoped that it would last.

Hee, finally got up a picture of the whole pride and the little story was very fun to write :3 For those who haven't guessed yet, Thys has found herself a new infatuation. Yes, Thys and Isis are mates. Don't like it? Then deal. I think they are just adorable together ^-^
And I hope I got Autumn right, with her personality and all. :3
